I am not kidding.

A man who claims that he was molested by Bigfoot as a child was ordered to serve 20 years in prison yesterday for his own molestation-related activities.

Gene R. Morrill, 57, of New Ipswich, New Hampshire, had previously pleaded guilty in Stafford Circuit Court to 20 charges stemming from his efforts to solicit 13-year-old boys over the Internet.

The Bigfoot molestation claim is difficult to understand; except that when caught, they find any possible reason to justify their behavior; including ‘being abused as a child’, their ‘environment’, etc. The molester inevitably becomes a ‘victim’ when caught.

Morrill was convicted of five counts of attempting to take indecent liberties with a child, five counts of using electronic equipment to solicit a juvenile and 10 counts of reproducing child pornography.

Child porn is a huge industry…even here in the United States. In addition to destroying the family with ‘no fault divorce’ which has insured that divorce rates skyrocket, abortion which has put forth the perception that children are garbage, men like this view children – as objects to be exploited.

And the fact that they’re running loose and the ACLU is trying to enable them the ‘right’ to live near playgrounds furthers the notion that the ACLU is fighting for the Civil Liberties of criminals; to help them find another innocent victim. Their claim is that ordinances meant to protect children, restricting sex offending pedophiles from getting near places where children are, like playgrounds, are ineffective.

What’s ineffective are judges that allow these people to run free, and laws requiring them to register as sex offenders so they can run around in our neighborhoods.

Crossposted from STACLU

Yes, even after the ACLU cost them over $900,000 in city tax dollars in their attack on the Mt. Soledad cross, the San Diego City Council voted yesterday to pass a resolution “commending the American Civil Liberties Union of the San Diego and Imperial Counties for its continuous advocacy for the rights and freedoms of all San Diego” and proclaiming an “American Civil Liberties Union Day” in the City of San Diego. Give me a freaking break!

Two speakers opposed the recognition, including Heather Cameron, a representative of the law firm of Charles LiMandri.

LiMandri also serves as the West Coast director for the Thomas More Law Center, which along with other organizations, including the American Center for Law and Justice, donated thousands of hours of time to fight the ACLU’s demand that San Diego remove a historic cross from the Mt. Soledad Veterans’ Memorial. The case continued even after the federal government took over the site and San Diego no longer had control over it.

Cameron told the council members “one of the great myths” is that the ACLU started out as a pro-civil rights organization.

ACLU founder Roger Baldwin said, “Communism is the goal,” she told the council.

Cameron said Baldwin asserted that only a “small group of highly educated intellectuals” should dictate what everyone else believes.

In San Diego, the ACLU cost the city’s taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars by raising the fight over the Mt. Soledad cross and continued the battle even after 76 percent of the voters supported maintaining the cross where it was built.

James Hartline, a Christian activist in San Diego, also spoke. He said the proposal to honor the ACLU was “one of the most repugnant acts” ever accomplished by the council and blamed the ACLU for a “long-term campaign of hate and religious bias against Christians.”

He cited a previous case brought against the city by the ACLU in which the organization collected $900,000 from city taxpayers.

“We do not want our names to be used to honor the American Civil Liberties Union,” Hartline said. “You are doing so in our name.”

A bipartisan team of council members, Tony Young and Brian Maienschein, opposed the resolution, and Jim Madaffer did not vote. The other five members – Kavin Faulconer, Atkins, Donne Frye, Ben Hueso and Scott Peters – went along.

Hmmm…maybe everyone will dress in orange jumpsuits and waterboard one another in the streets to commemorate the day.

Rick Roberts rants so I don’t have to:

Hey, San Diego! How will YOU celebrate ACLU Day? What, you haven’t prepared? Well, our local government sure did!

The City of San Diego took nearly one million dollars of your tax dollars to officially tell the ACLU, ‘as a city, we love you.’

What kind of representation is this???

OUR San Diego City Council voted IN FAVOR of an ACLU ‘Day of Honor’ just yesterday.

Kavin Faulconer, Toni Atkins, Donne Frye, Ben Hueso and Scott Peters all believe that we as a community should embrace 75 years of the American Criminal Liberties Union.

Is this accurate representation of OUR community?!

I think not. We’re not San Francisco. At least not yet. I would even go so far as to say that the City of San Diego isn’t exactly into defending illegal aliens, terrorists, and Fred Phelps…

Absolutely outrageous that a city counsil would vote for a day like this after the ACLU sucked them dry. Talk about representatives taking no account for the opinion of citizens they are supposed to represent. I mean, if they put it up for the people to vote they know it would never pass. Sickening. The San Diego city council should have their phones ringing off the hook.

Crossposted from Stop The ACLU

Since New York Governor Eliot Spitzer brought the topic into the national discussion, I thought it would be interesting to dust off this oldy but goody. I know that some more libertarian leaning people actually agree with the ACLU on this, but I don’t. It will be interesting to watch the debate in the comments.

Keep in mind that all laws are based on some moral code. That code isn’t necessarily that of any one specific religion, but a reflection of the collective morals of the community and general public. It is my belief that issues like this one should be decided at the state level by the representatives of the people.

Also keep in mind that even in States where prostitution is legal it is regulated. The ACLU believe it should be unregulated. I think this is the most retarded and absolutist position that the ACLU has on this one. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want someone being pimped on the same corner my kid catches the school bus.

Not only have the ACLU argued before a federal appeals court that having a ban on federal funds to organizations that promote commercial sex work inhibits free speech, but they even advocate the legalization of unregulated prostitution themselves.

The ACLU’s Policy 211 is straightforward. “The ACLU supports the decriminalization of prostitution and opposes state regulation of prostitution”. They base their argument on several points, including that existing laws are discrimination against women, and the right of individual privacy. They argue that what two consenting adults in private do is their own business. However, when you also oppose zoning laws, and regulation you can hardly argue that prostitution is a private business.

As for it being a privacy issue, it seems a contradiction to me when they also state that the “public” solicitation of prostitution is “entitled to the protection of the First Amendment”. “It’s not just the bedroom that the ACLU wishes to make off-limits to public censure, but also the local street corner, presumably even if that corner is regularly used by school children crossing the street.” Source

And what good would it do for women’s rights to decriminalize this? One could argue that women should not be punished for their own exploitation. But how does decriminalizing pimps, buyers, procurers, brothels or other sex establishments offer any solution to this? Decriminalization would do nothing but expand the sex industry and send a message to society that it is acceptable. And a system unregulated would do nothing for women’s health, and would only promote the spread disease.

They don’t believe in zoning laws, and do believe in fully legalized, and unregulated prostitution. So there wouldn’t be any law that could keep a prostitution house from being a certain distance from your neighborhood, your Church, or your child’s preschool. This is especially disturbing when they think child pornography distribution and possession should be legal, and fight for convicted child molesters to live across the street from elementary schools and parks.

This is just one of many in a very long list of extremist positions of the ACLU.

First and foremost, Rep. Myrick confirms that Major Coughlin will now be retained by the DOD, and “…associated with another office program within the Office of the Secretary of Defense where he will continue to spread his message.”

The Congresswoman, one of the handful of stalwart individuals on jihadism in either the House or Senate, also highlights in her statement, the seriousness of what she terms, “…the nature of the radical Islamist enemy that we face today and how they are seeking to infiltrate all elements of our society.”

Rep. Myrick further lavishes deserving praise upon Major Coughlin’s thesis, “Major Coughlin’s thesis must be read by everyone responsible for ensuring the safety of America,” for which we now learn he has been retained, and arguably even promoted, within the DOD.
[…]

Score one for common sense and BZ to Representative Myrick for keeping DoD’s feet to the fire on this issue.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a request for the documents with the FISC in August following passage of the Protect America Act, a law that vastly expands the Bush administration’s authority to conduct warrantless wiretapping of Americans’ international phone calls and e-mails. In attempting to justify passage of the law, the president and members of Congress publicly made repeated veiled references to orders issued by the FISC earlier this year.

Today the FISC ruled that, despite the fact that release of the orders would inform the public about the government’s surveillance powers, the court would not conduct a review to determine whether the legal rulings were properly determined to be classified.

The following can be attributed to Jameel Jaffer, Director of the ACLU National Security Project:

“The decision is disappointing, both in its reasoning and its result. A federal court’s interpretation of federal law should not be kept secret from the American public. The Bush administration is seeking expanded surveillance powers from Congress because of the rulings issued by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court earlier this year. Under this decision, those rulings may remain secret forever.”

Writing for the court, U.S. District Judge John Bates refused:

‘The identification of targets and methods of surveillance would permit adversaries to evade surveillance, conceal their activities, and possibly mislead investigators through false information,’ Bates said.

Of course this common sense approach of avoiding the revelation of our “secret” methods of listening in on terrorist activity disappoints the ACLU. Their history of looking out for the “rights” of our enemies during war time is long and documented.Thank goodness common sense triumphed over the ACLU’s dangerous agenda this time around. Since it was the ACLU whining that everything should go through this court for approval, this should shut them up. Don’t count on it.

Jason Javitz:

It’s good to see that someone over in D.C. has a functioning cerebrum, eh?

P.S. – Judge Bates was nominated to the federal bench — yeah, you guessed it — by President George W. Bush.

Prelude:

“They turned this funeral into a media circus and they wanted to hurt my family,” Snyder testified. “They wanted their message heard and they didn’t care who they stepped over. My son should have been buried with dignity, not with a bunch of clowns outside.”

Hat Tip to Michelle Malkin, we see that Albert Snyder of York, Pa, the father of that slain solider has won his lawsuit against Westboro Baptist Church.

From the Baltimore Sun:

Albert Snyder of York, Pa., the father of a Westminster Marine who was killed in Iraq, today won his case in a Baltimore federal court against members of Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church who protested at his son’s funeral last year.

The jury of five women and four men awarded Snyder $2.9 million in compensatory damages. The amount of punitive damages to be awarded has not yet been decided. The jury deliberated for about two hours yesterday and much of today.

Snyder was the first in the nation to attempt to hold members of Westboro Baptist Church legally liable for their shock protests at military funerals after the church protested the military’s inclusion of gays at the funeral of Lance Cpl. Matthew A. Snyder, a 2003 Westminster High School graduate who died March 3, 2006, in a vehicle accident in Anbar province.

In June 2006, Snyder sued the tight-knit fundamentalist Christian church and three of its members individually. The father argued that Westboro’s demonstrations exacerbated his pain and suffering in March 2006 while he mourned the death of his only son.

Specifically, he charged that they violated his privacy, intentionally inflicted emotional harm and engaged in a conspiracy to carry out their activities. The jury decided in Snyder’s favor on every count.

The church and its members maintained that they did nothing wrong. They based their legal defense on the First Amendment, arguing that their protests were constitutionally protected. Their attorneys told jurors yesterday that Westboro members were expressing closely held religious beliefs about an immoral society, including the military, that has endorsed homosexuality.

From MM:

The Synder website has legal documents from the case here. Send him a note of congratulations and thanks here.

Free speech doesn’t absolve people of responsibility for the damage they do, and most reasonable people would consider what Westboro’s minstrels of misery do very painful and completely inappropriate. Perhaps this might convince a few other victims to follow suit, pun intended, and ensure that Phelps’ moral bankruptcy gets matched by his financial bankruptcy.

..when did it ever get to the point that the Left claims to have the absolute lock on “the truth” and that they alone “are in the right”. When did they suddenly become endowed with the all encompassing and all knowing wisdom that makes them the sages of the ages?

When, pray tell, did all of a sudden the Great Poobah descend from His Holy Mountain and hand the Holy Writ of Sacred Knowledge to the likes of Cindy Sheehan and Hillary Clinton?

Who made them the ultimate arbiters of what is correct and what is not?

Hey..I’ve checked, but I still can’t seem to find it….what am I looking for? Oh yeah…the piece of paper that says I have now handed over my free will and all beliefs to you to determine as you deem fit.

Last I recall, I do not ever remember giving anyone the right to dictate to me what I am to do, think, or say?

Why and when was it decided that to support the war one has to “sign up?” Who gave you the authority that says “Everyone else is wrong and only you are right?” Who are you to tell me anything??? Who was it that all of a sudden decreed that you were the “arbiters of Mankind” and that everyone else must toe the line of “global warming” “, or be branded a “denialist?”when the science itself is questionable??

What says that I am wrong in regards to what I believe may be the outcome of the war in Iraq vs what you claim is “the truth”? Do you have a crystal ball?? A pipeline into the Joint Chiefs of Staff?? Access to Presidential briefing papers? A seat in the Situation Room??

No??

Who says I don’t have the right to make up my own mind??

How is it that you can never be wrong??

Was it a tablet from On High that gave you infallibility to a level even the Vicar of Rome would envy? I still can’t find it…can you send me a copy of the piece of paper that was signed by me, signing away every right I have, every free thought, every free opinion, because all of a sudden you are the ultimate authority on every fucking subject under the sun???

I know you won’t find that document…because it doesn’t exist and never will.

To the loonies of the Left, I have this persistent question in the face of your unbelievable arrogance and arrant hatred of anyonewho would dare disagree with your eternal prescience of the Known Universe…

…who died and made you Pharoah in Egypt???

Our system of protecting some of the most defenseless amongst us must be fixed. Romeocat has a post about the sad and pathetic excuse for a judge who decided to give a child rapist a 60-day sentence for serial raping a 6 year-old girl. The judge sure doesn’t care about putting a monster back on the street to hurt other little children. He doesn’t care about justice for the six-year-old whose life has been warped by a sick, putrid, disgusting, pile of filth that deserves to be left in a room with the parents, chained to the floor, and brillo pads and hack-saws. Sounds rough eh? Not nearly as rough as being a six year old and BEING RAPED REPEATEDLY.

Now on to the sweet little girl whose picture is above. Her name is Kelsey Smith-Briggs. She is the latest story here in Oklahoma. Poor little Kelsey died October 11th. She didn’t die at the hands of rapists, or serial murderers. But at the hands of those who were supposed to nuture, love, and care for her, her mother and step-father.

Her care was being supervised by a judge and the Department of Human Services when she died Oct. 11, allegedly from a stomach blow.

Her stepfather, Michael Lee Porter, 25, is charged with first-degree murder. Her mother, Raye Dawn Porter, 26, is under investigation.

Televised home-video images of her trying to walk and play with casts on two broken legs haunt Oklahomans. Her death came four months after the judge returned her to her mother, against a DHS recommendation. The judge ruled her abuser was unknown.

(emphasis mine)

That’s right folks, a judge returned her to an abusive and dangerous situation.

Here is a timeline, provided by The Oklahoman. Tell me if you can’t see the writing on the wall.

The final months of Kelsey Smith-Briggs’ life
Jan. 9, 2005: Kelsey suffers a broken collarbone and bruises while in the care of her mom, Raye Dawn Smith.

(hmmmm. Okay, kids play and get hurt. -D.A.)

Jan. 24: Kelsey is moved to her paternal grandmother, Kathie Briggs.

April: Kelsey is still in Briggs’ care but visits her mom regularly. She breaks both shins.

(hmmmm. Seems to have an awful lot of “playing and getting hurt” in her mothers “care” – D.A.)

April 18: Raye Dawn Smith marries Michael Lee Porter.

May 3: Kelsey is placed in state Department of Human Services custody because of the broken legs. She is moved to her maternal grandmother, Gayla Smith.

(YAY! Someone finally pulled their heads out of their arses and finally took that poor child out of an apparently abusive situation -D.A.)

June 15: Lincoln County Associate District Judge Craig Key rules that who abused Kelsey is unknown. The judge returns Kelsey to her mother.

(Just cue the “imperial march” here folks! In comes the Black Robed Wonder who returns Kelsey to her mother and step-father because the abuser is “unknown”. Let me widdle it down for ya there Judge Key, it is either the MOTHER or the STEP-FATHER. Sending the lamb back amongst the wolves. -D.A.)

Aug. 19: Kelsey is hurt in a car accident.

Oct. 11: Kelsey dies, allegedly after her stepfather, Michael Porter, strikes her in the stomach at their home near Meeker.

(Too late. Another innocent dies at the hands of an evil monster because of a Black Robed Wonder. -D.A.)

If you were wondering where Kelsey’s father was this entire time, well, he was fighting in the National Guard in Iraq.

Apparently the Oklahoman will continue the next few days with stories on the situation should you wish to follow it. It is a pretty big stink, with the mom blaming step-dad and step-dad blaming mom. I don’t care who exactly struck the fatal blow, it was one of the two. The other one HAD to know that the abuse was taking place, and did nothing to stop it either. So the blame goes on the parents. Then I blame the judge, who went against the advice of the social workers who wished to keep her out of that situation. I for one am sick of this crap. A two year old girl was sadistically abused, and the system did absolutely nothing to protect her.

A broken system. No. A worthless system that sacrifices our youth, our future. That sounds more appropriate.

In case the New York Times’ marathon Abu Ghraib hypefest and Newsweek’s Korangate fiasco didn’t make it clear whose side the establishment media is on in the War on Terror, NewsMax.com reports that journalists are chaffing at the bit because of limitations on disseminating photographs of dead American soldiers.

President Roosevelt strictly prohibited the media from publishing photos of dead American soldiers during WWII for the obvious reasons that they would have high propaganda value for the enemy and would undermine American morale, both among the troops and among the civilian population whose support is critical for military success. This limitation was largely honored through following wars.

But now, with the bulk of the media more or less openly siding with the Islamofascist enemy out of sheer depraved moonbattery, they unsurprisingly want to change the rules.

In a comprehensive report published Saturday, the LA Times laments finding “almost no pictures from the war zone of Americans killed in action,” which they believe results in an “incomplete portrait of the violence.”

“There can be horrible images, but war is horrible and we need to understand that,” bleats war photographer Chris Hondros, as if unaware of the strategic consequences of ramming these horrible images down our throats on the evening news.

Pim Van Hemmen of the Newark Star-Ledger almost touches on the real issue by complaining that “Writing in a headline that 1,500 Americans have died doesn’t give you nearly the impact of showing one serviceman who is dead.”

A representative of the NY Times also pipes in, yammering about their “responsibility to bear witness” to morbid carnage. Apparently the fact that relatives would see the pictures dissuades the media about as much as the idea of giving aid and comfort to al Qaeda. Of course, rather than admit to their traitorous and unseemly nature, they squirt out clouds of sanctimony like a squid’s defensive ink.

“We not only have the right, but the responsibility to run such photos,” declared the Executive Editor of the Tacoma News Tribune, after publishing a picture of a dying American that left the soldier’s wife “shaking and in tears for hours.”

You may remember Code Pink as the moonbat cult that raised $600,000 for the terrorists who were killing their fellow Americans in Fallujah.

The Battle of Fallujah is over, but Code Pink’s struggle to undermine our country continues. The latest front in their war against America is a “counter-recruitment” campaign that calls for sabotage and disruption directed at military recruiting offices.

According to Code Pink:

Holding an action outside a recruitment center can have a huge effect on potential enlistees, recruiters, and passersby. It is a highly effective method of community education and empowerment, and has been shown to drive recruiters out of areas, from a block to a city.

Helpful tips are offered to those who would like to undermine their own military in time of war:

Pass out anti-US propaganda leaflets.

Make an appointment with a recruiter as a way of ensuring that the office will be open when the “action” is to take place.

Hold a “die in” — i.e., lie on the sidewalk and refuse to move so that police have to come and drag you away at taxpayers’ expense.

Stage a “mourning march,” which should include pink crosses, tombstones, and a prop coffin.

Form a “resistance line” in front of the doorway so that no one can get into the recruiting office.

Really get under people’s skin by singing moronic songs.

If you are wondering what kind of person would encourage this behavior, DiscoverTheNetworks.org has some interesting information on Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin, a hard-left mental case considered to be a chief organizing force behind the1999 Seattle riots that caused millions of dollars worth of senseless destruction. A little background reading on Benjamin and her merry band of maniacs quickly makes it clear that Code Pink and the anti-war movement in general are not so much opposed to war as to America, and to the freedom America represents.
