And McCain’s incredible introduction before she speaks. I’m not sure I like all that stuff about being a union member…you have to wonder sometimes who McCain thinks he’s talking to.
But stressing that public service is exactly what it says it is - SERVING THE PUBLIC - instead of special interests and leftists and terrorists with deep pockets, this looks pretty good.
But damn, I wish Palin was the candidate for President and not McCain. How much is she going to be able to influence his Maverick-ness?
“challenge the status quo” and “serve the common good”?
Apparently she has challenged the status quo in her own state of Alaska, by taking on people in her own party ‘for the common good’ of Alaskans.
Boy, I’ll bet the Obama/Biden camp are having conniption fits right now; they won’t be able to attack Palin on very much, considering her experience and record.
Hat tip to Cathouse Chat.

Thomas Sowell has a great piece up on “Change in Politics” -regarding Obama and why the “change” rhetoric is merely repeating the failures of FDR regarding the economy, but points out that at least FDR had the sense to be strong on national security.
Obama doesn’t have FDR’s sense, although he shares the love for social programs.
Obama’s minions have been busy creating obfuscations regarding Sarah Palin, which is a good sign. LGF pointed out the connection to “Fight the Smears” and anti-Palin websites, which seems to indicate that “fightint the smears” involves inventing smears against political opponents. Their hysteria has involved a number of insults to McCain, as well.
Obama doesn’t have any women in his organization, he didn’t chose a woman as veep, but what his campaign has been fighting for was to prevent Hillary Clinton from getting into the Oval office, and now to prevent another woman from having a role in this, -Sarah Palin.–with women’s votes.
The Obamanazis have been searching for a picture of Sarah Palin in a bikini. Why they think that would be disparaging, I don’t know - she was formerly at one time Miss Alaska; a beauty queen. But as see-dubya has pointed out, they tried that same bikini schtick with Michelle Malkin, and it didn’t work.
But they don’t realize that their disgusting ploys rarely work; it just goes to show that they’re bereft of class and civility.
Take a look at this post again and notice how many insults there are in it - without a shred of evidence or fact; it’s complete spin!
Mooseburgers for Everyone to Celebrate Palin, McCain’s VP Pick!
By Tracy DC ☮DC T☮ YesWeDid - Aug 30th, 2008McCain chooses Sarah Palin for VP spot (after meeting her once) to woo disgruntled Hillraisers, to get financial support from his heretofore unexcited conservative base who was gonna vote for him anyway, as an attempt to reignite his fading image as a maverick, and because he fantasizes what the former beauty queen looks like when the hair comes down and the glasses come off.
That part about the hair coming down and the glasses coming off has been edited out if you go there now. The depiction of conservatives’ being disgusted with McCain up until this point, though, is completely true. But it’s about the only shred of truth in this blog posting at myobama.com
Moreover, I’m sure McCain is trying to figure out if she can be paid less for being a VP than his other strung-along would-be male picks since he’s against equal pay for women. The above must be the reasons since Palin’s experience does not qualify her to potentially be a heartbeat away from being the Leader of the Free World, even more troubling, when you consider whose 72 year old little off beat heart we’re talkin’ about, here.
He’s against equal pay for women - what? Where’s the proof of this? Palin’s experience is similar to that of Obama’s in years, and if you’re going to compare the two and call Palin inexperienced, then you’ll have to admit that Obama is, too. In fact, Obama’s veep choice Joe Biden, demonstrates Obama’s insecurity on the ‘experience’ issue, but also demonstrates that Obama is about politics as usual because Biden has a breathtaking 30 year career in the Senate - having accomplished a number of things during that period which are hardly items to brag about - such as defending the agents that murdered the people at Waco and a young boy, Sam Weaver. and a young mother holding her baby at Ruby Ridge, Vicki Weaver.
All this while completely disregarding Cindy McCain who is very accomplished in her own right, this person depicts McCain as a man who would not treat Palin equally, despite the fact that McCain - not Obama - chose a young woman running mate. Obama was fighting Hillary, and now he’ll be attempting to use women’s votes against Palin. Democrats don’t REALLY believe in ‘equality’ that’s why they have different rules for different groups. And the attack on Palin’s experience reflects this individual’s disconnect from reality, since although Palin’s inexperience is comparable to Obama’s, she has 7 years of executive experience, and being the governor of a state that is flanked by two foreign countries, Canada on the one side and Russia on the other. So she has an awareness of the threat that Russia poses moreso than Biden or Obama, despite Biden’s 30 years of politics as usual. That’s not to mention Biden being a barrel of gaffes. (Recall “you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.” and “I mean, you got the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.” )
They’re making points for the other side with this stuff.
To end on a positive note with regard to Palin, you can’t deny her superwoman status–three days after giving birth to her son with Down Syndrome (now 5 months), she was back in the office trying to make sure that polar bears aren’t considered an endangered species, that BIG OIL rules, that incest and rape victims do not have a right to abortion, and that creationism will be taught in school, that is, if one can’t home-school.
No worries about missing dinner for her big family of 7, she’s got that handled too. She’s a moose hunter and has enough frozen microwavable mooseburgers to feed an army stored up for a year! Can’t wait to debate her myself!
quite a bit of stereotyping going on there, heh?
Polar bears are not an endangered species. Palin is not about “big oil” but about energy alternatives. Taking our dependence off of foreign oil is something we should be actively seeking - and of course we won’t see the benefits of doing it for at least 5 years; that’s a given. We should also take proactive measures in order to activate dormant refineries.
How many incest and rape victims are impregnated by rape? She should examine her statistics. And what is wrong with creationism being taught in schools when there is no evidence of evolution in the fossil record, and evolution has never been witnessed? There is certainly more evidence for creation than there is for evolution; what that individual is doing is railing against Christianity as most ’scientific’ socialists do. The problem is when you look at the science, science backs up the biblical version of how the earth came into being; and is extremely scientific.
I would look forward to Palin debating this moonbat, that post demonstrates how moonbattery involves no rational thought.
As a commenter said in my comments section–at Obama rallies, they’re yelling O-ba-ma! And at McCain rallies, they’re chanting U-S-A! That’s about all you need to know about the two campaigns; one is to coronate a socialist dictator, the other is for service to our country. One is for strangling the taxpayer with blinding taxation, the other is for cutting the pork and special interests and returning us to representative government.
Should that happen, I can see the ancient carreers of people such as Dick Durbin and Joe Biden going by the wayside. I’d like to see a change in the rules for representatives - in that they have limited terms, and would not be allowed to behave as though they’ve been given a lifetime appointment.
Sarah Palin is about REAL CHANGE. She’s fought for it within her own party. She represents all that is good, and is a mother of five children, a lifetime NRA member, hunts and fishes, and loves moose stew.
She is refreshing and as Uncle Jack said in this post, Palin is turning the conservative base who was formerly disgusted by McCain, –around to voting for him.

I’ve had a full 24 hours to digest the news about McCain choosing the Alaskan governor, Sarah Palin, as the choice for his Vice Presidential running mate. While I like to focus on markets, homebrewing, and my running (something I haven’t mentioned much lately), my blogging career, if you want to call it that, was launched on the eve of the last general election so I want to say a few words about this election and then move back to my center. Thanks for bearing with me.
The initial reaction that I saw and read was one of disbelief, mostly from women, who were saying that McCain must think that women are stupid for thinking this choice will win over women voters. I was traveling to see clients yesterday so I got an earful of pundits on the radio and the television channels (I have XM radio in the car so I can hear the t.v.), who all had a different and very incorrect take on McCain’s selection.
The last election in which Bush beat the socialist senator from Massachusetts (not Kennedy, but the other socialist) was won by energizing the conservative base, not, as some have incorrectly said this weekend, by pandering to the “undecided middle.” It irks me to no end that the undecided middle of this country has so much pull in politics, but my lack of patience for people who cannot make simple decisions is a subject for another post.
While I was catching up on my reading this morning, I found that a trader that I occasionally read actually had the nerve to say that McCain’s choice was irresponsible given his age and the likelihood that this inexperienced governor of Alaska might have to takeover office before his term(s) expire. While some centrist and leftist women in this country may be upset with McCain’s choice, seeing it as some sort of ploy to win their votes, the trader’s “irresponsible” comment was over the top.
I do not plan to be a vocal supporter of Sarah Palin, but the research that I have done regarding this choice for V.P. actually had me excited for the conservative party yesterday. A few bullet points may help you understand my view, as this choice fits right in with my view of who would be a perfect choice for high office. Otherwise I was likely to throw my vote away on Ron Paul, who is actually on record as saying that writing his name in for President would be irresponsible because he stands no chance of winning against the monstrosity we call the two-party political machine.
Of the four candidates for high office, McCain, Obama, Biden, and Palin, Sarah Palin is the only one with executive experience. The other three have merely been senators, and regardless of how long they have been in Washington, they are still merely elected officials who have been sucking off the gubmint teet in various lengths of service. Not one of the other three has ever held an executive office, elected or otherwise, as head of their own company or at the top of a government organization, let alone a State in these United States.
McCain, while I’m sure he would love to woo the undecided women in the center of the political spectrum, was more concerned about the missing conservative base that elected George Bush. Without that base, no amount of disenchanted Hillary voters or undecideds would ever carry McCain to the White House. Palin, as his pick for V.P., wins back and energizes that base. The wife and I, and a client who I visited with yesterday, before yesterday were all going to throw away our vote on Ron Paul in protest. By choosing Palin, McCain just brought us back under the conservative tent.
A few qualities to note about Palin that McCain knew conservatives wanted, or at least knew that most of the conservative base wants:
Executive experience.
A firm backer of the Second Amendment.
Pro-life, and a working mother of five.
A steam roller over corruption, she vetoed several pork barrel spending bills brought to her by her state legislature.
And, the winning note comes in the form of her decision making regarding legislation, she actually checks the constitutionality of a bill before signing it into law or vetoing it.
You undecideds should check your inability to make a decision at the door, as Sarah Palin is actually a woman that you could respect (if you could make up your darned mind) because she speaks her mind and stands up for the right thing, all the time. She does not pander to polling data, or vote according to whatever political winds may be blowing or in which direction they may be headed. This pick of McCain’s was not only a stroke of political genius in the big chess game of getting elected to the white house, but he doesn’t have to rely on the undecideds to get him there.
Congratulations Senator, you won back a very big portion of the conservative base with your choice, which includes many of my friends and me. To finish this rant I’d just like to borrow and rephrase a ridiculous comment that I heard during the last two elections, If Obama wins the election, then I’m moving to Alaska.
Cheers, and Godspeed to John McCain and Sarah Palin.

I saw this at Michelle Malkin’s, where she put up a post celebrating McCain’s choice for VEEP.
I’m just wondering if McCain’s choice is going to make that much of a difference, considering his history as far as working with John Kerry to normalize relations with Vietnam at the expense of POW/MIA families by burying that issue forever, and numerous other things - such as preferring to work with democrats rather than people in his own party.
If Palin was running for President, though, I’d vote for her in a heartbeat.
But…she has a 4-month old downs syndrome baby at home. As VEEP, how much attention will she be able to give this newborn child with a disability? The flipside of this, of course, is Obama’s reaction to Jill Stanek’s testimony of holding a downs syndrome baby for 45 minutes while it died - after picking it up out of a soiled laundry area of the hospital she was working in. Jill Stanek’s testimony about children born alive after their mothers attempt to abort them–is sad and compelling. Obama had little sympathy for the downs syndrome child whose mother didn’t want him; while Palin fairly recently gave birth to one with the same defect.
This is one tough cookie in my estimation, a brand new mother like that, joining McCain as his veep candidate….

From my sister through email.
An email from Ireland to all of their brethren in the States…a point to ponder despite your political affiliation:
We, in Ireland, can’t figure out why you people are even bothering to hold an election in the United States.
On one side, you had a pants wearing female lawyer, married to another lawyer who can’t seem to keep his pants on, who just lost a long and heated primary against a lawyer, who goes to the wrong church, who is married to yet another lawyer, who doesn’t even like the country her husband wants to run!
Now…on the other side, you have a nice old war hero whose name starts with the appropriate ‘Mc’ terminology, married to a good looking younger woman who owns a beer distributorship!!
What in God’s name are ye lads thinkin’ over in the colonies!

One day, history is sure to record the character of a man vilified in his own time, faced with being blamed for any and all things that do not meet anyone else’s improbable and generally impossible expectations, such as steering hurricanes away from land masses. President Bush wil be seen of a man or character, unwavering in the face of political demands that were also not only improbable, but unreasonable, and often, impossible.
Take a few minutes and read what the most powerful man on the planet did take the time to do enroute the Olympics and then consider your opinion of that man. And before you get to involved, it isn’t a report from the MSM, either:
The Value of Service
Commentary by Lt. Col. Mark Murphy
354th Maintenance Group deputy commanderEIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska — I learned a big lesson on service Aug. 4, 2008, when Eielson had the rare honor of hosting President Bush on a refueling stop as he traveled to Asia .
It was an event Eielson will never forget — a hangar full of Airmen and Soldiers getting to see the Commander in Chief up close, and perhaps even shaking his hand. An incredible amount of effort goes into presidential travel because of all of the logistics, security, protocol, etc … so it was remarkable to see Air Force One land at Eielson on time at precisely 4:30 p.m.–however, when he left less than two hours later, the President was 15 minutes behind schedule.
That’s a big slip for something so tightly choreographed, but very few people know why it happened. Here’s why.
On Dec. 10, 2006, our son, Shawn, was a paratrooper deployed on the outskirts of Baghdad . He was supposed to spend the night in camp, but when a fellow soldier became ill Shawn volunteered to take his place on a nighttime patrol–in the convoy’s most exposed position as turret gunner in the lead Humvee. He was killed instantly with two other soldiers when an IED ripped through their vehicle.
I was thinking about that as my family and I sat in the audience listening to the President’s speech, looking at the turret on the up-armored Humvee the explosive ordnance disposal flight had put at the edge of the stage as a static display.
When the speech was over and the President was working the crowd line, I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see a White House staff member. She asked me and my wife to come with her, because the President wanted to meet us.
Stunned, we grabbed our two sons that were with us and followed her back into a conference room. It was a shock to go from a crowded, noisy hangar, past all of those security people, to find ourselves suddenly alone in a quiet room.
[…]
It gets better after the jump. Well, it gets excellent is a better description. Go, read, meditate.

Sad…you know you can’t critize a Democrat on their positions, speaches, or associations, because you’re either a racist, parnoid or a woman hater.
When a woman enters the race on “the other side,” the presumptive Whiner-in-Chief’s campaign, who said they weren’t going to run a negative campaign, kicked their words to the side (a common character “feature” (others would say “defect”)) and began attacking in a very negative manner:
Team Obama Lashes Out at Palin
Team Obama cannot even say, “Congratulations, Governor Palin, we look forward to a spirited race.” Nope, first thing they do is attack, attack, attack:
Barack Obama’s campaign is blasting John McCain for putting “the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.”
The scathing description of Sarah Palin, from Obama spokesman Bill Burton, comes as Democrats scramble to gather a response to a selection that nobody in the political world expected.
“Governor Palin shares John McCain’s commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush’s failed economic policies — that’s not the change we need, it’s just more of the same,” added Burton.
Democrats will likely push the inexperience line against Palin as they race to comb oppo files from Wasilla to Juneau.
First, after spending the entire campaign talking about how experience isn’t everything, Barack Obama, who’s never held a full-time job for four years, cannot start hitting her on inexperience.Rove just called the response “petty and small,” and boy, this is going to just further convince the Pumas that sexism drives the Obama campaign.
UPDATE: The guys on Fox News note that the Obama campaign can’t even bring themselves to call her “Governor Palin.” That response is going to blow up in their faces.
ANOTHER UPDATE: To clarify, in the release, they call her “governor”, but they don’t even deal with it, calling her “the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.”
By the way, mocking the size of the town — I guess that town is full of bitter clingers, clutching guns, religion, xenophobia, opposition to trade deals…
Like going after Stanley Kurtz for merely finding the story of Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), showing a completely connected relationship, the democrats are holding up a man who is not mereley inexperienced, but flawed in his entire view of the Nation he says he wants to lead.
BhO isn’t looking to lead this country, by his actions, he’s looking to rule it, and he will abuse whatever power he gains to keep his opposition for having a free and open debate on the issues we face.
Side note: I think McCain hit one out of the park. Consider the ramp up to 2012, when one woman can step forward and say “I have the best experience you can have for the top position of this Nation.” Hint: It sure won’t be Hillary…or Michelle. The Clinton Era is most likely merely waiting for a shovel full of dirt to be placed in the grave.

What if a Chinese rebel pulled off the biggest practical joke in history, and nobody got it?
In contrast to architect Paul Murdoch’s dirty trick (trying to plant a terrorist memorial mosque on the Flight 93 crash site), Zhang Yimou’s trick at the Beijing Olympics was moral, beautiful, and hilarious.
In case you missed it, the Beijing closing ceremony was an extended dramatization of the sexual act, ending with the fertilization of an egg.
Here is a still image of the final tableaux. After the circle of a thousand yellow-clad egg-girls has finally been penetrated by the couple hundred bouncing sperm-boys, the sperms rush to the center to form the nucleus of the fertilized egg, while the egg girls spread out to form the albumen:

Here is the video (two minutes):
If this WMV file won’t play on your computer, you can try reading this post over at Error Theory, where Alec’s original Blogger Video upload might still be working. (Access to the video is difficult because the NBC footage cannot be posted at YouTube or Google Video. The full video has been available at uZood. We claim that our shorter clips are FAIR USE, based on news value.)
Zhang Yimou’s drama began with WHAT LEADS to the fertilization of an egg (1 minute):
In between The Act and its result was a parade of floats, dramatizing the journey of the sperm through guess which body part:
Anatomical drawing, for comparison.
Wondering where the ovaries are? Floating 40 feet above the entire production:

No anatomical drawing needed to recognize this. Georgia O’Keefe would be scandalized.
But the performance wasn’t just a sex scene followed by a biology class. The whole production is rendered out of passion and spirit, which connect to the wellspring of spirit in the middle part of the performance, where the circulatory “chi” of the Tai Chi masters is depicted by lit circular bicycles, circulating through bordered pathways around the still pulsating sexual center:
Chi bicycles circulate the pathways of spiritual energy before passing through the red center itself, presumably symbolizing the delivery of the chi to the zygotes.
The philosophy behind this representation may be Taoist or Buddhist, but the result is hardly distinguishable from Catholicism, which also sees the spirit inhabiting the body at conception (an idea that the Chi-Coms, with their policies of forced abortion, might prefer to suppress).
In all a beautiful, profound, life affirming, and wonderfully amusing practical joke. The fertilization of the egg at the end is meant to be the punch line, confirming everyone’s suspicions about the obvious POSSIBLE sexual connotations of the preceding. This is not hidden folks. You are SUPPOSED to get it. (Original expose here.)
Choreographer Zhang Yimou is China’s most decorated film-maker, with a long history of butting heads with Communist censors, and of making sexy female-centered movies. It is not surprising that he would find a female-centered ode to procreation irresistible.
If some of his Communist overseers were in on the trick that is great news. If they have that much humor, maybe we can feel a bit better about them. The other possibility is that Yimou was able to keep his overseers from seeing enough of the production at once to figure it out. That would be a magnificent story of defiance, which will be lost if people don’t get it!
Life affirming vs. murder-cult affirming
This makes two examples of semi-hidden symbolism in a mega-scale production. We have architect Paul Murdoch’s dirty trick and Zhang Yimou’s wonderful, beautiful and very funny trick. Zhang is the good twin to Murdoch’s evil twin. In contrast to Zhang’s life-affirming symbolism, Murdoch is hiding the most disgusting tribute to evil and murder ever concocted.
If we can break the story of the good twin, and see Zhang’s production properly celebrated for what it truly is, that spotlight will shine on the evil twin as well, and reveal him for what he truly is. Zhang’s trick should also be a much easier story to break, and not just because half the world saw his production. If people are loathe to witness evil, either out of political calculation, or simply because they want to give the benefit of the doubt, everybody loves a good joke.
Zhang and Murdoch (Zhang is the surname) both needed for their symbolism to be semi-hidden. If it was too obvious, the hidden meaning would erupt in controversy and threaten the completion of the project. But the meaning couldn’t be too hidden. Once the production is a fait accompli, people have to get it. The symbolic accomplishment has to be demonstrable, or all is for naught.
The positive morality of Zhang’s display explains how he was able to get away with it. There can’t be a woman in that fertilized egg scene who, after multiple rehearsals, did not know that she was dramatizing the fertilization of an egg. There cannot be a man on spring shoes who did not know he was playing a sperm, but because it was beautiful and fun, everyone was willing to go along with the joke.
Ditto for any Chi-Coms who figured it out (probably as the performance date loomed). And why not? With such a lovely trick, if it comes out that the party knew, it will be to their credit that they let it proceed.
These dynamics of positive morality are not available to Paul Murdoch. For his evil scheme to advance, he needs a very different moral dynamic to be in play, a dynamic of willful blindness, where people look at the world in terms of what they think is most advantageous for them to see, instead of in terms of what is actually there. Unfortunately, this is the dominant cognitive style in much of America today.
It is no surprise that people who could choose a memorial that is laid out in the shape of an Islamic crescent and star flag would be determined not to be concerned that the crescent actually points to Mecca. After all, the crescent and star flag configuration is obvious:
Click for larger image.
Anyone who can be willfully blind to THAT can easily ignore what seems to them to be much more esoteric, like the orientation of the crescent. It doesn’t matter to them that the orientation of the crescent is actually the most important thing to Muslims, turning the crescent into the Mecca-direction indicator around which every mosque is built. What MUSLIMS think? Why that is positively arcane, to anyone who finds it advantageous to think so.

Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to 2006 statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens – more than the U.S. death toll of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. That’s more than 30,000 Americans killed by illegal aliens since Sept. 11, 2001.
Disgusting.

Tip o’ me tam to Marathon Pundit and John Bambeneck at Part Time Pundit.
John Rueberry sent this to me a while ago, but I was just reminded that I needed to write about it. Sorry, John, life is nuts for me right now.
A great program was started at the University of Illinois for veterans of the Iraq war: the state and the University of Illinois worked it out for these guys to get a FREE executive MBA from UIUC. Here’s how it works. They could either attend the Chicago office or the Champaign campus, and have the state pay for the program with Illinois Veterans Grants (IVG). Whatever was left, in the area of about 54% each year, would be picked up by the College of Business.
This program was so cool, and such an ingenius plan, that it was supported far and wide, by Rumsfeld, the State of Illinois, and Congressmen. There were an amazing amount of openings- 110 slots for veterans. But in the end about 46 were accepted. You can still view the program at the College of Business website.
Things fell apart rapidly. As Bambeneck put it:
The University of Illinois system is the same system that employs William Ayers as a distinguished professor of education. That’s the same Bill Ayers that tried to blow up government buildings and infamously quipped that people should kill their parents.
Robert Van Der Hooning is the architect the program that would send 110 Iraq war veterans through the University’s MBA program. According to Van Der Hooning, Dean Gosh, acting on behalf of the University, said there were too many “jarheads” in the program, and tried to scale it back, using several underhanded methods. Van Der Hooning says the criteria for acceptance was changed after the vets were promised slots. That is why only 46 of the 110 MBA student slots are occupied.
The reason that the number is so low is that the remaining applicants did not meet the criteria for acceptance by the appropriate deadlines. One would assume that a free executive MBA would draw more than 110 applications and that applications denied for cause would not have lead to a high-profile administrator in the College of Business not only leaving the University but filing a lawsuit.
But that’s exactly what happened: Robert Van Der Hooning, the architect of the MBA program for Iraq Veterans at the University of Illinois, has left the University and filed a lawsuit, alleging anti-military bias and discrimination.
(This is an old post that I just published so talk to the hand about it being old)

Turning the tables again on Obama’s speech-squelching thugs - at Michelle Malkin
The complains that Obama and his blognots have a double standard about political opponents versus themselves once again presents itself in that Obama’s people are “investigating” and threatening republican donors, while the elitists who’ve thrown obscene amounts of money into the Obama campaign is long. If the rules Obama’s people are using against republicans are to apply evenly to both sides, then an investigation into the rich donors to Obama’s campaign must be conducted.
What they’re trying to do is silence the Ayers ad produced by the American Issues Project, so the lawyer representing the American Issues Project fired a letter off to the Attorney General’s office. The entire text of the letter can be found at Malkin’s, but this excerpt from it was particularly interesting and really demonstrates very old communist/socialist tradition of attacking political opponents, regardless as to the actions they themselves take.
The Obama campaign dislikes the content of AIP’s advertising – but is unable to contradict the facts contained in the ad. That is precisely why the ad is presently being broadcast by numerous television stations. It is accurate, documented, and truthful.
They can’t handle the truth!
The Obama Campaign has specifically called on the Department of Justice to prosecute a donor to AIP, whose contribution was disclosed publicly in accordance with federal law. See 11 C.F.R. §109.10.
Information contained in AIP’s FEC Form 5, filed on August 19, 2006 was attached to the Obama Campaign’s Second Letter to DOJ and information contained in the filing forms the basis for the Obama Campaign’s latest demands of you and the Department. The Obama Campaign’s request gives rise to a significant legal and constitutional question: that is, whether the Department of Justice would seriously undertake the prosecution of a citizen under pressure from a prominent government official / political candidate, relying on information contained in truthful and accurate government filing, disclosed in accordance with federal law. There are serious Fifth Amendment self-incrimination issues involved in a situation whereby a criminal prosecution could be ordered at will by political pressure on your Department based solely on a timely and accurate federal government disclosure.
We already know the answer to this; the Delaware case against Sinclair is completely due to the “pressure from prominent government official/political candidate” - and in Delaware, the pressure was applied to Sinclair through Joe Biden’s son and after a packet of BS was sent to them from Obama bloggers. It would seem to me that these dirty tactics should backfire, as this letter suggests.
AIP has sought and received the voluntary after-tax contributions of donor(s) to support its policy objectives, which happen to differ from those of the Obama Campaign. Rather than addressing the facts contained in the AIP advertisement, it has instead set about to “deal” with AIP through your Department.
They’re not interested in “facts”, which is why they attempt to turn this into a personal attack on donors and supporters of a different political point of view. As one Obama supporter said in comments here, accusing me of blaspheming Obama, which is against their new religion and must be stopped!
This is, however, only the latest in a series of brazen public statements and efforts by liberal Democratic operatives and agents of the Obama Campaign to silence their critics and organizations with whom they disagree, by initiating what they acknowledge is a concerted national effort announced in recent weeks to intimidate, harass and otherwise bully conservative donors.
That is so true; this is all about silencing Obama’s critics. What they seem to be worried about is the facts would come out which demonstrate that Obama is a dirty politician connected to the democrat machine in Chicago and through Rezko and Auchi -Saddam’s Iraq; that his Chicago ‘friends” Ayers and Dohrn are unrepentent terrorists who want to destroy America; that his veep pic-Joe Biden has a less than honorable history in politics involves his role in dismissing instead of prosecuting the agents that murdered innocents at Ruby Ridge and Waco; that Biden is a pro abortionist candidate who claims to be a catholic despite the Catholic church’s long held position against it; that he’s funneled money meant for reform in the educational system (Annenberg Challenge) to ACORN; that he’s received money from any number of Islamic terrorists such as the brothers in Gaza; that he not only is a supporter of the political agenda of the gay community, he’s been having extramarital homosexual affairs for years AND had a relationship with the murdered gay choir director of Reverend Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ, Donald Young. (Which seems hauntingly similar to Hitler’s murder of Ernst Roehm) And all of that pales in comparison to his claiming he’s no longer a muslim but a Christian while he’s on record publicly mocking passages in the Bible and his extreme position on the Born Alive Infant Proection Act which shows he thinks it should be okay to kill babies after they’re born - if those little babies manage to survive the attempt to kill them in the womb.
That’s an awful lot of dirt to sweep under the rug and away from the American people in the hopes that they will chose this ‘candidate for change’ - who represents the worst of politics as usual.

I got an email from Americans for Limited Government today.
August 27th, 2008—Americans for Limited Government president Bill Wilson today strongly condemned Sen. Barack Obama for “attempting to censor free speech and creating a pathology of oppression that threatens to gut the First Amendment.”
Wilson’s comments came in response to efforts by the Obama campaign to ban a commercial critical of Obama from the airwaves. The commercial, which reveals the close relationship between Obama and unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, is sponsored by an independent organization known as the American Issues Project. Obama has intimidated several major TV networks into refusing to air the ad and has pushed the Department of Justice to “investigate and prosecute” the organization.
“Mr. Obama has now established an undeniable, indelible image of himself as a thin-skinned, pathological authoritarian,” Wilson said. “Time and again since he first declared himself a candidate for the presidency, he has first denied charges against him and then, when the truth came out, viciously attacked those who dared to tell the truth. He has shown utter contempt both for the facts of the matter and freedom of speech.”
Wilson cited numerous examples of Obama’s “pathological authoritarian” behavior that, according to Wilson, “call into question his fitness to hold any position where he can suppress dissent and oppress those who dare to offer it”:
o When the story first broke of Jeremiah Wright’s racist attacks from the pulpit of Obama’s church, the Senator first denied such attacks occurred. Then, after the release of videos, the Senator, in his “racial reconciliation” speech, lashed out at the past racism of white Americans, including his own grandmother.
o When asked about abortion in the Saddleback Forum, Obama denied that he had ever supported the killing of babies who had survived the abortion procedure. After the debate, when questioned about his response by CNS reporters, Obama lashed out at his accusers, labeling them “liars.” Subsequently, the Obama campaign was forced to issue a statement confirming Obama’s support for post-birth abortion.
o When unflattering elements of his past record in both the Illinois state senate and U.S. Senate were exposed by independent groups supporting Democrat primary candidates Hillary Clinton and John Edwards, Obama first vehemently denied the accusations. When the groups stood by their charges, Obama called for criminal investigations and prosecutions of the groups’ donors.
o When Obama wrote his book Dreams from My Father, the senator conspicuously — and some have charged, deceptively — left out the full name of his acknowledged mentor, “Frank.” When Jerome Corsi exposed the mentor to be communist party member Frank Marshall Davis, Obama lashed out at Corsi with a 40-page screed attacking the journalist’s integrity. The Corsi revelation proved to be true.
o When Obama went to Iraq, and Gen. David Petraeus explained to him why the surge had been successful, Obama – despite being presented with the facts on the ground – continued to deny the success of the surge. Then, when pressed on the evidence presented, the Senator lashed out at Petraeus, telling Fox News, “My job is to make the decisions about the national security issues … Their job is just to get the job done.”
“And now,” Wilson said, “we have Obama is once again exhibiting the same chilling cycle of defraud and defame. Obama knows he has maintained a close friendship with Ayers, and he knows that Ayers remains proud of his terrorist attacks upon the people of the United States. So, instead of admitting his own frightening lack of good judgment, Obama once again viciously attacks those who dare to expose the truth.”
Wilson pointed out that according to those in attendence at the cocktail reception thrown by Ayers to launch Obama’s state senate bid in 2005, Ayers played a pivotal role in pushing the Obama candidacy. According to attendee Maria Warren, “They were launching him — introducing him to the Hyde Park community as the best thing since sliced bread.”
And Ayers, according to Wilson, didn’t merely sit on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago with Obama, as the Senator has contended; it was Ayers who helped Obama secure the board position.
But it isn’t only in these instances that he has avoided the truth, lied about it, and attacked the people asking questions. And in quite a few instances, he has sent some very challenged individuals out to do his bidding and silence the opposition.
Too bad it hasn’t worked.
In Cuba, they’d just shoot you. And wasn’t it the Obama democrats who show Che’s image as an image of socialist revolution and change; as someone to be looked up to? A murdering sociopath who bound and and gagged his captives before he shot them in front of their relatives?
