We seek energy independence, don’t we? Well, I’ll bet, it’s more like “Animal Farm” politics when it comes to just what energy we can use…

So we find we have 4.3B bbls of recoverable oil, safe within our National borders. EXCELLENT!!!! Will we now allow an evil, money grubbing corporation, that owns all the right equipment to go in and extract it? They are now, but what could throttle them back better than finding some small critter hanging onto it’s existence? This could be interesting to see what we can do to save the creatures living 2 miles below the Earth’s surface in the oily shale.

Probably not…It’s not biofuels, that will cause us to be eating each other soon (you know, we need the drama for the MSM to have things to report), or at least to allow farmers to cash in on rising food AND fuel prices (will Congress soon be grilling ADM executives over their obscene profits?), it’s not the Sun (as it cools in it’s 30 year cycle), or wind that cannot be exploited in the view of Ted Kennedy’s property off the Cape. All we need is a Clintonian declaration of some level of “protected” status, as his did for the coal fields in Utah.

Sure, let’s go ahead and elect someone who will “protect us,” right out of the economic world. Of course, it may not even have to be a Democrat in this election cycle, either, if you listen to the most recent speeches.
Methinks our own Democrats are trying to make Americans an endangered species…

But then, maybe I’m just being a bit cynical today.
