Now this is just stupid. The reason people hate Bush is because he's been an incredibly bad President. The worst in the history of our Republic. He lied to start an unnecessary war, fought that war with breathtaking stupidity, and squandered lives and trillions of dollars. He stood by slack-jawed when Katrina hit. He decided the best way to fight terrorism was to steal our civil rights and pretend that he (and his underlings) didn't have to obey the law. THAT'S why people hate Bush. Because he's done so very much to deserve it.

Bush's approval ratings have been below in the dumpster for years. They're far below what Clinton's were even at the height of his impeachment hearings. The majority of people liked Clinton because he did a good job as President. Bush did (and is doing) a terrible job. They'll judge Obama and Clinton and McCain on how well they do the job--aside from the shrieking lunatics who will crucify them non-stop because of their disconnect from reality.

And the reason why the Democratically-controlled Congress' ratings are so low? Because they aren't standing up to the hugely-unpopular Bush Administration. If Congress was impeaching people and holding hearings and banning torture and getting Guantanmo closed their approval ratings would SKYROCKET. Because America hates Bush, hates the terrible job he's done, and expects it's government to be both competent and responsive to it's views. If the new President does that, he or she won't have to suffer the wrath and disdain of those they represent.
