Ever since CNN’s screening of the now-infamous sniper video, the BBC has found itself beaten back into second-place in the Treacherous Leftism stakes. Obviously, the Corporation couldn’t allow this situation to stand unchallenged for long, and so it is that one, David Loyn, does something quite jaw-droppingly vile:

The BBC’s David Loyn has had exclusive access to Taleban forces mobilised against the British army in Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan.

So you CNN guys think buying a ropey video off some terrorists is hot stuff? Pfah! Our journalists actually embed with them. Top that, amateurs.

There is no army on earth as mobile as the Taleban.

From the offset, Loyns proves himself to be a firm believer in the adage, ‘If you can’t say anything good about someone, then don’t say anything at all’ … Because, you know, when asked to fill the blank in the following sentence:

‘There is no army on earth as ………. the Taliban’

It’s a very safe bet that words like ‘hated’, ‘evil’, ‘fascist’ and ‘women-whipping’ would leap far more readily into most people’s minds than the ‘mobile’ Loyns settles on.

But. Still. Bearing in mind al-Beeb’s need to win that treason-contest with CNN, it is, perhaps, understandable that Loyn would overlook the obvious here … Just as it’s obvious why he overlooks the reason for his use of ‘hair-raising’ a few paragraphs later:

After one hair-raising race across the desert last week, patrolling the large area where they can move at will, they screamed to a stop at a river bank.

Question: Why were the bearded-crazies ‘racing’ through the desert, Loyns? For shits and giggles? Because of a rumour that Miss Goativerse 2006 was giving out free samples in the village next door?

Or was it because the British Army were chasing them?

See, Loyn, here’s how this works for the rest of us: When we see someone ‘racing across the desert’ with a bunch of the very same Islamofascists who’ve just murdered a British soldier, the descriptor we tend toward isn’t ‘Journalist’. It’s ‘Traitor’ …

… Or are we being a little too conservative about all this? We mean, granted that Loyn and the BBC are ‘racing’ with, and heaping praises upon, the very ‘men’ who murder British, U.S. and NATO soldiers. But. Still. It isn’t as if they’ve gotten so close to the Taliban that they’re exchanging dental-hygiene tips with each other. Is it?

They clean their teeth with sharpened sticks taken from trees, and sleep with only the thinnest shawls to cover them.

Oh. Damn … But, at least, having clawed his way back to the kind of reality that eschews sticks in favour of toothbrushes, Loyns will grant that his own countrymen stand a good chance of hammering the kind of guys who think sharpened sticks are the answer to dental hygiene?

They have surprised the British by the ferocity of their fighting and their willingness to take casualties.
Their belief in the imminence of paradise means that few exhibit fear.

Oh. Right. So now we’re to be ’surprised’ that bearded, bark-gnawing, Islamist savages are willing to take a bullet for Allah?

Well, while this will come as a huge shock to anyone who didn’t get the Taliban’s somewhat unmissable 9/11 memo on that one, the rest of human civilisation (and this includes our fighting men — Thanks for inferring it doesn’t, Loyn) fully intends to soldier boldly on without submitting to the kind of guys who charge into battle, beards waggling fearsomely, with teeth cleaned on lumps of … um … wood.
