The elite press thinks they’re above the law

Legal scholars and commentators are asking if the New York Times violated U.S. espionage laws. See this article at World Magazine by Hugh Hewitt called “Above The Law“.

Even US President’s aren’t above the law; that has repeatedly been proven on a bipartisan basis (in the cases of Nixon and Clinton).

The press, however, thinks it’s above the normal US citizen, apparently, because Bill Keller of the New York Times makes the case by repeatedly defending his paper’s decision to publish last year’s articles on the NSA program’s intercepting communications from Al Qaeda.

See this article at World Magazine by Hugh Hewitt.

Also see Michelle Malkin’s Hot Air “Vent” video with regard to the purpose of the NSA withou the liberal hysteria attached. Michelle’s is interesting from the standpoint of the long history the NSA has had in terms of the work they do; intercepting and even decoding messages in order to stop or curtail huge impending catatrophes in the making.

Keller’s vociferous complaints in defense of his paper’s actions while we are at war with a shifty enemy opens up questions about the privileges he claims for the New York Times. These questions should be openly answered. Does he really believe his paper can publish national security secrets regardless of espionage laws? Did his lawyers warn him that no such privilege against prosecution exists? Might major media aid terrorists without suffering legal repercussions?

Let’s hope not…although we already know they are…

  2. let’s see– the Democrats believe they are the ultimate, all-knowing, and supreme power in the land and therefore they are above the law … and the Times is Democrat … so yes, they do honestly believe they are completely above the law. They would be incredibly shocked if any person there were charged with a crime.

  3. Agreed. But still…what they did was against the law.
