It would have been truly irresponsible for Louis “Calypso Louie” Farrakhan to spread the notion that the destruction caused by Katrina in New Orleans was actually the result of a sinister Bush scheme that involved blowing up levees in order to harm black people. It would have been irresponsible, but it was only sadly comical — because the allegation is so childish and bizarre that no one could possibly be enough of a fool to take it seriously.
Well, almost no one.
Filmmaker and charter member of the PC pantheon Spike Lee, who has made himself very rich and famous by marketing neurotic race guilt to self-loathing liberal elitists, is now on the record as taking Farrakhan’s psychotic delusions seriously.
He picked the ideal forum for his over-the-top moonbattery: the gut-twistingly vile Bill Maher’s Real Time on HBO — the same venue used by Maher and Ward Churchill to browbeat and humiliate the brother of a 9/11 victim.
Lee got riotous applause from the audience with the pathetic suggestion that the 2000 Presidential election was rigged, then took the next logical step in support of Calypso Louie’s premise:
If they can rig an election, they can do anything!

Spike is an idiot, he is racist, and his movies are lousy. My favorite Spike Lee moment was when he taunted Reggie Miller several years ago during a Knicks-Pacers playoff game, and it fired Miller up to go on a phenomonal three-point shooting streak in the last 39 seconds, to win the game in NY. The NY Press slammed him the next day.

The citation of examples of idiocy in application to excuse the attempted spread of racism. Pure and simple. The promotion of propoganda. The attempted justification of racist political views. Blacks have been punished throughout history, and their majority economic status only confirms this. Are they less intellectual than their white counterparts? No. Society has condemned blacks throughout history, and the poverty of that past can be a huge inpediment on one’s future. We don’t need racist perspectives to perpetuate these injustices. And Spike-Lee was at least right on one thing: in a time of crisis, the government will always prioritize rich over poor.

As citizens, I wish we would not insult each other with petty, racist comments. That will not bring forth solutions, but cause wrath and worsens things, and that is true idiocy. There are few things worse than insulting people over the color of one’s skin. It’s down right immature, uneducated and demonic.
Upstanding Black citizens take responsiblity and admit to the faults of some of our people. With no dispect to Whites, it seems they take no resonsibility for any of the faults of some of their people. I believe they think denying it takes from the guilt they have. It’s ok to admit to mistakes. That is how individuals and groups alike learn, educate and prosper for the future. It also helps both Blacks and Whites develop more respect for each other.
Now, to the topic at hand. Whether White, Black or Native American, can anyone deny that the Army Corp of Engineers are responsible for the levees’ breach? Study the facts, do the research. It’s thier primary job to maintain public/government structures in the city of New Orleans. I don’t believe that the gov’t blew anything up, but people died from their lack of responsibility and they should face man-slaughter charges. Although being Black and poor had a major role in this catastophy, the color of the victims should not stop any citizen from demanding justice for those who died and lost homes.

You say ‘don’t be a racist’ but then you prove yourself to be one in the next few sentences, talking about ‘black and white’. People are people, I don’t distinguish between people because of the color of their skin. Some people are assholes, and you find out soon enough when you deal with them. It has absolutely nothing to do with race, so stop talking about that as being the important issue.
Talk about the relevant issue, which to my mind is the idea of ‘personal reponsibility’, which this nation is beginning to lose site of.
If Nagin had deployed these buses, and been more forward thinking, they wouldn’t have ended up in the predicament where they were looking for the federal government to look after them. And doesn’t this have something to do with the people who get government checks every month who aren’t accustomed to being held accountable for their actions, or responsible for themselves? “It’s the system”, it’s their “upbringing”, etc. I don’t swallow that crap.
Every time we talk about New Orleans the race issue comes up, and it’s not brought up by those of us on this side of the aisle. Why is that? Because that’s how Nagin played it, that’s what leftists are, and that’s how a lot of people are playing what happened there. Affirmative action is based on racist concepts; that certain individuals can’t compete based on their own intelligence or brain power or accomplishments, so they’re given artificial help from the government.

I think all of this is pretty funny. I’m white. First off, to the guy who had his family killed by the flood waters, I send my condolences. Losing family sucks ass. There is nothing like it. Guess what happened to me. When I was four years old 5 black men broke into my parents house. I had seen them trying to get in from my bedroom. I hid under my bed. They proceeded to savagely rape my mother and murder her. Not before torturing her. My dad came home as they were leaving and the men killed him without any questons. As I got older and understood exactly what happened I realized that those men where black. I hated black people for a while. I was so angry one day I told my teacher that “whenever a black child gets raped, an angel gets its wings”. I was promptly expelled. From this point on I started realizing that the men that murdered my family were merely a fraction of a representation of black people. The murdering and raping wasn’t a black thing. It was a human thing. Those men where angry and misguided. Of course we can look at each race and easily see the stereotypes. There are certain undeniable thoughts that come to mind when we see one’s skin color. A large portion of these sterotypes are true. Thats why theyre stereotypes. But just because I’m white doesn’t mean I can’t play basketball. Just because I’m black doesn’t mean I can’t be a great swimmer. All races have ethnocentricity going on. Most of the “races” are racist, nepotistic, etc. Its human nature. You guys might be pullin the same kinda bullshit if you where in whiteys position. Anyway, they weren’t trying to be cute, ray nagin and spike lee ARE idiots. A “chocolate city”! Are you FUCKING kidding me Mr. Nagin. Post #14: So your point is not to call those who did not die survivors? By all definitions in any dictionary they are survivors. The word survivor had meaning long before it bacame the name of a TV show.

Why were all the city school buses under water and not used to evacuate the city?

PS I had family in New Orleans and had to house a cousin in NC for a while after Katrina. Other family memebers had to leave New Orleans and have not yet returned but want to, even if you and your mayor don’t want them because they are not chocolate.

Too much. The ideology that we’re the descendants of pigs and monkeys and ‘kill the white man’ says a lot more about bigotry than I’ve ever seen here.
Nobody is against black people on this website, we all work, live and play with people who are different than we are.
That’s why we live in mixed neighborhoods, and why our children go to school together,and even sometimes intermarry. It’s called “tolerance”. You ought to try it sometime.
It’s racist bigots who want to destroy the white race that should look at themselves and do some soul searching. I am not only consistently amazed, but wonder what has encouraged these people to hate people who are no different than they are underneath. We are all made of flesh and blood, we all are miracles and children of God.
