The Significant OtherHunter and I were shocked, shocked, that The Washington Post would have a positive headline or two on their Sunday edition as regards yesterday’s historic constitutional referendum. Behold:
…and this:
In a Sunni Quarter, a Day of Emotion
Imagine that.
I’m sure that there are still but-monkeys a plenty in these articles, though… in fact, counting them could be a safe and entertaining way to spend this Sunday, for those who are not football fans. (As for me, I’m just wishing all the best for the fledgling democracy in Iraq, as I head off to early Mass with wife and the LittleHunters.)

UPDATE: Don Surber has an outstanding critique of the critics of U.S. policy on Iraq and the elections. A must read.

Why is that headline stunning?
The WaPo’s editorial stance has been one of continous support of the war in Iraq since before the invasion.

Continuous support? Might that be the bizarro WaPo you’ve been reading? While they were somewhat supportive during the main thrust of the war, I daresay after seeing the paper’s doom and gloom in recent months, these two Sunday headlines were a nice change!
The Post is as guilty as the rest of the MSM with overkill on negative Iraq news stories vs positive ones, I see the front page every day so I know. Right up there with the MSM TV networks, which have a 4:1 preference for accentuating the negative.
