John Bambenek is a full-time research programmer at the University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign. He is also a graduate student in Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville (in distance) and a non-degree graduate student at the University of Illinois.

He is a recognized expert in information security and has worked on several books, courses, and certification tests in the field. He is also a volunteer incident handler for the Internet Storm Center and his research has been cited widely, including in the New York Times and the Washington Post.

John was employed as a project manager at Ernst and Young and consulted with many Fortune 500 firms. He is now, in addition to his work at the University, a columnist with the Daily Illini and working on becoming syndicated.
