The Psychology of the Left Part 3: Paranoid Schizophrenia

February 20, 2005

In this, the third segment of our investigation into the liberal mental illness I call NAPPS(Narcissistic Peter Pan Paranoid Schizophrenia) we will deal with yet another way the left faces reality. Or better, does not face it, but opts instead to avoid it. And this avoidance mechanism, originating in the fear of pain and loss of control, triggers a new false reality. And this is where we encounter Paranoid Schizophrenia.

Paranoid Schizophrenia is:

one of the most damaging of all mental disorders—causes its victims to lose touch with reality. They often begin to hear, see, or feel things that aren’t really there (hallucinations) or become convinced of things that simply aren’t true (delusions). In the paranoid form of this disorder, they develop delusions of persecution or personal grandeur.’

And again described here:

The essential feature of Paranoid Schizophrenia is preoccupation with one or more systematized delusions or with frequent auditory hallucinations related to a single theme.’

I will admit here that most liberals do not suffer from audio or visual hallucinations.
However, as you will read below, there is at the least ample evidence of their showing some obvious signs of ‘delusion’.
So let us move forward and look at the symptoms of Paranoid Schizophrenia and how they are indicated in the words and actions of the left:

1. Confusion

-“George W. Bush has gotten America into a quagmire, and he ain’t going to be the one to get us out.” James Carville.
-”We have a great opportunity now to take action now to avert a crisis in the Social Security system. By 2030, there will be twice as many elderly as there are today, with only two people working for every person drawing Social Security. After 2032, contributions from payroll taxes will only cover 75 cents on the dollar of current benefits. So we must act, and act now, to save Social Security.” Bill Clinton 1998.
-”I actually voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it.” John Kerry.
-”We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction. The chemical weapons Saddam has used and the biological weapons we know he has tested pay no attention to borders and nationalities.” Madeline Albright 1998.
-”A strict reading of the constitution would be a mistake” Al Gore 2000 .
-“The difference between Martin Sheen and George W. Bush is Martin Sheen is actually convincing when he acts like he’s president.” Paul Begala 2002 .
-“I suspect that eradicating small pox was wrong. It played an important part in balancing ecosystems.” John Davis, editor of Earth First! Journal.

2. Inability to make decisions
-See the my post on The Peter Pan Syndrome and how the libs willingly cede the responsibilities of their live and decisions to the nanny state.

3. Hallucinations
-Ok, so most don’t have hallucinations…well, as far as I know.

4. Changes in eating or sleeping habits, energy level, or weight
-Ever see a hungry, sleepy, mopey, fat moonbat? I know I have….his name is Ted Kennedy.

5. Delusions
-” If she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age.” Charles Pierce 2003.
-“I have a feeling that (Osama bin Laden’s new videotape) could tilt the election a bit. In fact, I’m a little inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, that he probably set up bin Laden to this thing.”…Walter Cronkite.
-”I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by the Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the president of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia. I have that memory which is seared–seared–in me.” John Kerry 1986 .
-On Bush’s supposed suppressing of the 9/11 Report…”I don’t know. There are many theories about it. The most interesting theory that I’ve heard so far — which is nothing more than a theory, it can’t be proved — is that he was warned ahead of time by the Saudis. Now who knows what the real situation is?’’ Howard Dean 2003 .
-On Bush’s supposed deal with the Saudis to lower the price of oil before the election…”They’re high, and they could go down very quickly. That’s the Saudi pledge. Certainly over the summer or as we get closer to the election, they increase production several million barrels a day and the price would drop significantly.” Bob Woodward on 60 Minutes 2004 .
-”The inked fingers and the position of them, which is gonna be a ‘Daily Show’ photo already, of them signaling in this manner [Nazi salute], as if they have solidarity with the Iraqis who braved physical threats against their lives to vote as if somehow these inked-fingered Republicans have something to do with that.” Janeane Garofalo .
-”He won’t tell us what congressional leaders are now saying, that this administration is planning yet another substantial call-up of reservists and Guard units immediately after the election. Hide it from people through the election, then make the move.” John Kerry .

6. Nervousness
-“What if I lose my job? I need the government.”
-“What if I get sick? I need the government.”
-“What if I lose all my money? I need the government.”

7. Strange statements or behavior
-Julian Bond, Chairman of the NAACP on president Bush…”He has selected nominees from the Taliban wing of American politics, appeased the wretched appetites of the extreme right wing and chosen Cabinet officials whose devotion to the Confederacy is nearly canine in its uncritical affection.”
-On women being better off under Saddam Hussien…”They went to school, they participated in the professions, they participated in the government and business and, as long as they stayed out of [Saddam’s] way, they had considerable freedom of movement.” Hillary Clinton 2004 .
-”The other thing we have to do is to take seriously the role in this problem of…older men who prey on underage women…There are consequences to decisions and…one way or the other, people always wind up being held accountable.” Bill Clinton, June 13, 1996.
-”I think that we must do whatever we can to regulate how guns are used. I’ve been a victim of, of a stabbing.” Al Sharpton 2003 .
-”There is no terrorist threat in this country. This is a lie. This is the biggest lie we’ve been told.” Michael Moore .

8. Withdrawal from friends, work, or school
-I wish!

9. Neglect of personal hygiene
-Ever been to an anti-war(anti-Bush) rally? To most of the attendees soap is merely a vicious rumor.

10. Anger
-”[I]f there is retributive justice [Sen. Jesse Helms] will get AIDS from a transfusion, or one of his grandchildren will get it.”PBS’s Nina Totenberg .
-”I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for.” Howard Dean .
-”I despise him [President George W. Bush]. I despise his administration and everything they stand for. It is an embarrassing time to be an American. It really is. It’s humiliating.”Jessica Lange.
-”I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early like many black men do, of heart disease,” Julianne Malveaux on Judge Clarence Thomas.

11. Indifference to the opinions of others
-The elitism of the left will be documented below. But really, what could they learn from a bunch of homophobic, uncompassionate, intolerant, superstitious, warmongers anyway.

12. A tendency to argue
-Hmmm, maybe I’m a leftist?

13. A conviction that you are better than others, or that people are out to get you

better’….
-”Americans are possibly the dumbest people on the planet….in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pricks. We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don’t know about anything that’s happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing.” Michael Moore .
-”You think the [Republican National Committee] could get this many people of color into a single room? Maybe if they got the hotel staff in there.” Howard Dean .
“I can’t believe I ever even married an American.” Teresa Heinz(Kerry dropped per her request).

out to get you’

-”I’m the number 1 target of the White House. They can’t get Osama bin Laden; they’re going to get me.” Sen. Jean Carnahan – (CNN’s Crossfire, 10/15/02).
-”Look at the very people who are involved in this. They have popped up in other settings. The great story here for anybody willing to find it, write about it and explain it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president.”
Hillary Clinton .
-”Every day, the air waves are filled with warnings, veiled and unveiled threats, spewed invective and hatred directed at any voice of dissent. And the public, like so many relatives and friends that I saw this weekend, sit in mute opposition and fear.” Tim Robbins.

In reality, Paranoid Schizophrenia is merely a coping mechanism employed by a fragile mind. In order to protect itself, the mind fearful of true reality, builds its own new reality. As with most of those afflicted with PS, or any syndrome for that matter, the far left does not show every sign or symptom. Yet, the major symptoms including delusions, confusion, paranoia, and anger, are nearly always present. Still, PS does not exist in a bubble. It is merely one mechanism in the inner workings of the mind of the left. A building block in what I’ve termed NAPPS. The afflicted mind moves from one syndrome to another, one symptom to another, simply as a way to protect itself. To avoid pain. To avoid fear. And it is this avoidance of fear we will delve into in the next post. A synopsis of NAPPS and how it is used as a coping mechanism by the leftist mind to protect itself from the bitter realities of life.
