A Look at the Past

I must start off by stating GBlagg kicked my ass ice fishing Saturday, 4-0. A few points must be made though, I only saw him catch one fish, and he selected my minnows. He gave me the devil minnow from hell that was bright red and probably scared the fish, but kudos to him anyway.

I have a couple of old posts I would like to post here. One is on Howard Dean, and one is on John Kerry. We need to keep our past thoughts in our mind about these guys because both want to be part of the future of the Democratic Party. Dean wants to be DNC chair, and Kerry wants another run at the presidency. We need to keep our information and writings of these guys, so we can follow their courses; what they’re saying now and compare it to what they’ve said in the past. This information will help us create stronger arguments in the future when they will be needed the most. My post on Dean is in reference to a speech he gave at Yale. The John Kerry post is in reference to his mindless wanderings after the election and his confusion as to how he could possibly lose. I hope everyone enjoys them now. Are the relevant today? Let me know.

Howard Dean’s Communist Manifesto
Originally posted 11/17/2004

Just think. The far left really wanted Howard Dean to be the Democratic candidate for President of the U.S. If one listens to him, one can discover his socialistic views. At least that’s what I originally thought. Then this article came out. I now believe he has communistic tendencies and philosophies. Is this where the left really wants to go? Let’s look at some excerpts:

“The media is a failing institution in this country,” Dean said Monday at a Yale University forum. “They are not maintaining their responsibility to maintain democracy.”

Who authorized the media to maintain democracy? Isn’t the responsibility of maintaining our democracy relegated to the voters and their elected officials?

Part of the problem, he said, was an almost complete loss of objectivity.
“You can’t read a piece of newsprint very often in this country without being told what to think,” he said, according to the Yale Daily News.

Yes Howard, we all saw the intense left-wing bias in the media; CBS, CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, LA Times, etc.. I’m glad you caught on.

He claimed television networks, especially the Fox News Channel, were most to blame for the rise in flash and entertainment. He even suggested his now infamous “scream speech” after the Iowa Caucuses was partially a media fabrication, as it appealed to entertainment instead of news value. Thomas also acknowledged a slight liberal bias in the media, though he said reporters usually search for objectivity.

The “scream speech” was taped and played accurately. There was no media fabrication. None was needed. That was you, Howard. That was your true self, and it scared people. It showed you as the far left-wing psychopath that you are. Fox News, according to various polls, was the fairest of the networks regarding pro and con stories relating to the candidates. Even Evan Thomas acknowledges a left-wing bias. Accurate reporting sucks, doesn’t it Howard?

As far as solutions to Dean’s gripes, the former Vermont governor said it’s necessary to ensure diversity, and cap corporate ownership of media companies, even to the point of federal regulation.
“[The media] are incapable of regulating themselves,” Dean said. “What’s at stake is our democracy. If you think that American democracy can survive without an ethical media, then you are wrong.”

This is the scariest thing yet. For a government to gain control of the populace, it must first take over the media. This is an assault on the first amendment. Howard Dean wants the government to control the media, like China, Russia, and all the other communist countries. This is clearly a communistic philosophy and must not be ignored. The far left would control talk radio right now if it could. We must take all precautions against this from happening. I’m sure blogging would not be far behind. I suggest everyone start talking about this and bring it out in the open. We must not let this one slip by.

The Yale Daily News says Dean received a standing ovation from the crowd of about 200 who attended the symposium.

Potential future leaders of this country are in this crowd giving him a standing ovation. I don’t know what’s worse, Howard Dean proposing government control of the media, or the idiots in the audience agreeing with him. It’s time to take a stand.

John Kerry and The Lost and Found

JK: Excuse me. I seem to have lost something, and I was wondering if it was found and turned in?

A: What did you lose?

JK: My voters.

A: Come again?

JK: My voters. I lost my voters. They were supposed to be at the voting booths yesterday, and they didn’t show up. Did anyone happen to turn them in?

A: Uhhh…I really don’t know what you’re talking about.

JK: I lost about 5 million voters, and I was wondering if someone found them and turned them in.

A: Can you describe these voters?

JK: Well some are old. Really old. They’re afraid George Bush is going to steal their social security checks. Are they here? No?
Then there should be some young people, about 18 to 25 years old, idealistic. They hate authority. No?
How about homosexuals? You know, the gays and lesbians who are afraid they’ll have to go back in the closets because the conservatives are homophobic?
We’re also missing blacks and poor white trash people. We had some, but not as many as Jesse Jackson and Bill Clinton promised. None? Maybe they stopped by earlier looking for subsidized housing or tuition, or reparations, or some other entitlements? No?
How about women? Young unwed mothers? Women concerned about losing their freedom of choice? or worried about the glass ceiling? Soccer moms? None of those either?
Any Hispanics? They probably don’t speak english and are looking for all the rights and privileges of American citizens.
Or how about those people looking for free health care? They believe the government should provide free health care or at least make it affordable. No?
How about the mothers that are afraid of the “backdoor draft”, or of Bush implementing the draft? Or the children afraid of being drafted? None of those either?
Well what about those people that think America is bad and are concerned about how America looks to the rest of the world? Any of those here? No?
Any anti war people here? They use words like quagmire, occupation, Viet Nam, and insurgents.
Certainly there are disenfranchised voters here! I just know it! There has to be! No? Really?
I don’t suppose you have anyone that thinks the war on terror and Osama Bin Laden are one in the same? or the war in Iraq is a war for oil? or Bill Clinton was punished for having sex? No?
I bet you don’t even have anyone shouting HALIBURTON! No? None of those? Really?

A: No, I’m afraid no one like that here.

JK: Wow. I don’t really know what to do……I lost my direction….Is my direction here? I lost my direction.

A: No. Sorry.

JK: What about my values? Have you seen my values?

A: Are you sure you had them with you to begin with?

JK: Yeah…I think…maybe…..I’m not so sure now…

A: Then maybe you didn’t lose those voters either.

JK: What do you mean?

A: Maybe you didn’t have them to begin with.

JK: Hmmm…Maybe…I think I’m gonna go home and think about that.

A: You do that sir.

  1. If Howard Dean knew Jack-Squat about the history of the press in America, he would know that it has ALWAYS been a force for partisanship and the voice of various political factions. Why does he think there are newspapers around the country named the Democrat, the Republican, the Whig, or any of the names of other parties from our history? It was because they were the voice of that party! The major reason for a multiplicity of newspapers was also that same partisan need to communicate with the faithful.

The real joke is thae idea that the press was ever supposed to be a neutral force objectively ensuring democracy. It was supposed to be partisan, opinionated, and robust in debating its opponents.

  2. Ahh, the classics. Nothing like the warmth of something familiar. You know, like me kicking you butt ice fishing….again.

  3. That ice fishing thing is pretty hilarious. The minnow from hell????

I’ve been considering what the Precinct Chair said about this–it would seem as though that’s somewhat of an antiquated view. Is there such a thing as the Whig newspaper? The Whig online? Well what do you know, I just googled some up. The Quincy Herald-Whig, the Kingston Whig Standard. Interestingly, Kingston is Ontario, Canada. Looks like the Quincy Herald Whig is in Quincy, Illinois, so ok you have one that’s in the United States that I was able to google up. There are probably more small papers like that.

If you consider what the media research center has revealed about liberal bias/favoritism in the media–I’d like to know what major media outlets are reporting on behalf of the Republican party, if he thinks that’s the case.

  4. I think Dean will be the best thing that happens for the republicans. I rhetoric spewing, spin monger like Dean will have us laughing our collective butts off and have moderate liberals cringing with every word he utters.

    Comment by Richard Nixon — 1/31/2005 @ 10:51 am

  5. Anyone who is the least bit left of center is a liability for the democratic party. This is because the Republican Noise Machine is so damn good at attacking anyone that doesn’t conform to their strict codes. I’m actually a moderate and I like Dean because, like McCain he talks plainly. I don’t agree with all of the McCain’s politics, nor Dean’s, but at least I think they are both stand-up people who say what they mean and mean what they say, which is very different from most politicians these days.

  6. I like Dean, and hope he is the new DNC chair.

If you are deathly afraid of socialism, I suggest you consider the current corporate welfare in the US. Isn’t this socialism?

    Comment by CoolAqua — 1/31/2005 @ 2:59 pm

  7. CoolAqua, please explain and clarify your “current corporate welfare in the U.S.” comment. If you comment on this blog, hit and runs are not acceptable.

  8. I have no idea what “corporate welfare” is…so I’d appreciate an explanation, as well.

State-run corporations don’t exist here, and to my knowledge, we still have private enterprise.

    Comment by Cao — 1/31/2005 @ 5:50 pm

  9. My God, I, too, sure hope Dean wins the DNC chair. My work here would be done.
