I’m a mystery, although a lot of folks know me pretty well. Caoilfhionn is my writer’s name, and I’ve been using it for about 2 years. I have travelled around the internet, (on discussion forums and experimenting with blogs) but have made my home at Cao’s Blog.
I am married to the sexiest man on earth. I have two sons. The older one is 27, and is in the Army Corps of Engineers, just returned for his second tour in OIF2. It’s because of the Army dog that I’ve been studying the Iraq situation and have some definite opinions about it. Son #2 spent High School in Texas at the Marine Military Academy, in the USMC Uniform as Jr. ROTC. He’s 22 now and is finding his way.
I’m a gun owner (and know how to use ‘em) and believe in the 2nd Amendment.
Conservative views and values have always made sense to me. My family has been in politics a long time. My dad served as Alderman of our town, my g-grandfather was the mayor in our town. The powers that be didn’t appreciate g-Grandfather’s ideas about equitable taxes (he was on the Illinois Tax Commission), and one night they bombed our house. They missed him, though because he wasn’t sitting in his reading chair. He had retired early for the night because he didn’t feel well. That bomb took off the whole front portion of the house.
Needless to say, our family has been dealing with the extreme, outrageous, even lawless actions of the opposition for generations. I understand what’s going on today and am carrying the tradition of my ancestors: I am still opposing the things that are wrong. I hope I can share some of these views and make a difference.
I believe in government the way the founders intended-small. Capitalism is great, Communism kills. To me, the republican party platform still represents what I believe in. Pro Life, Marriage between a man and a woman as it’s been since the beginning of time, etc.
The Constitution was not meant to be a “living document”.
The founders were deeply religious men, and our founding documents were based on the Mosaic Law. As a Christian, I believe it’s important to uphold the Constitution, and remember the intent written in the Federalist Papers. Our schools taught the Bible until the ’60’s. It wasn’t that long ago when the whole nation studied the Bible in school. We are still 85% Christian, and I don’t see any reason whatsoever to wipe out Christianity from public view. What scares me are the people who say bad things about it. It reminds me of Hitler’s persecution of the Christian churches. I believe we’re in a struggle right now for our very existence.
The trend of “political correctness” is a dangerous thing in light of what we’re facing.
I suppose if you want to label me, you could call me a libertarian/republican like Cracker, or a Christian/libertarian/Constitutionalist like Ogre. I took a few political tests and I came out as a Religious Republican on one, and an “Independent” on another.

What does your first sentence have to do with the rest of your post? Why did you post that sentence and then ask that question?

I banned the guy who posted this:
Jesus was a liberal jew and he didn’t own a gun. I’m a Christian too - and looking for advice. What scientific (or otherwise acceptable form of) evidence do you have that there is a God exists at all? Like if I were going to go into court and convince a jury and win the case? If you can’t help me can you point me to someone who can?
Ogre, above, is responding to that idiocy. Which was nice of him, but it’s really unnecessary. I am in the ‘ban the assholes’ mode. I’m not taking any shit today.
Needless to say, it doesn’t make any sense, it isn’t relevant, etc., etc. And these are bios –I think comments on them should be closed.
Comment by Cao — 8/10/2005 @ 8:51 am
But then I can’t post silly things about you in your own comments.
Yeah, I’d say delete ‘em all and don’t allow comments on the bios.

“Soldiers of the Cross, Arise”
by William W. How, 1823-1897
Soldiers of the Cross, arise,
Gird you with your armor bright.
Mighty are your enemies,
Hard the battle ye must fight.
O’er a faithless, fallen world
Raise your banner in the sky;
Let it float there wide unfurled;
Bear it onward, lift it high.
Mid the homes of want and woe,
Strangers to the living Word,
Let the Savior’s heralds go,
Let the voice of hope be heard.
Where the shadows deepest lie,
Carry truth’s unsullied ray;
Where are crimes of blackest dye,
There the saving sign display.
To the weary and the worn
Tell of realms where sorrows cease;
To the outcast and forlorn
Speak of mercy and of peace.
Guard the helpless, seek the strayed,
Comfort troubles, banish grief;
In the might of God arrayed,
Scatter sin and unbelief.
Be the banner still unfurled,
Still unsheathed the Spirit’s Sword;
Spread Thy Word in all the world;
Let Thy kingdom come, O Lord.

Why do you ban questions in your blog comments?
Comment by Kyle Michel — 8/18/2005 @ 11:02 am
I don’t ban questions in my blog comments, I ban trolls and idiots. This is a bio, not the complaint department.

..I think Cao’s Bios is very nice. Although it could use some 3d graphics and explosions of light and such…
